The Programme Committee of the Future Leaders Forum assembled together in St. Petersburg
A visiting session of the Youth Programme Committee of the 6th Future Leaders Forum of the World Petroleum Council was held in St. Petersburg. The workshop was attended by 14 Committee members from seven WPC member countries. Foreign representatives arrived in Russia at the invitation of the Russian National Committee of WPC, which supported the initiative of the Rector of St. Petersburg Mining University; the Mining University is the oldest engineering university in the country, on the basis of which the main events of the Youth Forum will be held in June.

The programme of the visit included acquaintance with the venues of the Technical Sessions of the Future Leaders Forum, namely the Multifunctional Complex “Gorny” and the Mining University. The details of the previously approved Technical Programme of the Forum were clarified during the meeting. Members of the Youth Programme Committee discussed and agreed on the speakers’ candidacies of the key events of the Forum.

Information about the preliminary results of the stage of collecting applications for participation in the international abstracts’ competition of scientific works of young professionals was also presented; the winners of the competition will come to the Forum without paying a registration fee and will have the opportunity to make presentations at Youth Technical sessions.

Acceptance of applications and abstracts was completed on February 20. The competition is participated by over 300 students and young professionals of the oil and gas industry from dozens of countries. The first stage of selection of the best abstracts received for the competition was held during the visiting session of the Youth Programme Committee.

Members of the Youth Programme Committee discussed a number of other issues related to the preparation of the 6th Future Leaders Forum, defined a work plan and objectives for the coming months. Ulrike van Lonski, Director of Communication of the World Petroleum Council, remotely attended the session of the Youth Programme Committee.

“Preparation of the 6th Future Leaders Forum is coming to the finish lap, – said Vlada Streletskaya, Director of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council and a member of the Youth Programme Committee.

“Given that the Youth Programme Committee plays a key role in shaping the Technical Programme of the Forum, it was important for us to hold a meeting in St. Petersburg, so that the members of the Committee feel the atmosphere of the future Forum, evaluate the opportunities of the sites, and give their recommendations.”

Foreign guests expressed satisfaction with the preparation of the Forum and the level of organisation of the visiting session. Chair of the Young Professionals Committee of WPC, Stеphane Rousselet, who heads the Youth Programme Committee of the 6th Future Leaders Forum, expressed gratitude to the Rector of St. Petersburg Mining University and the Directorate of the RNC of WPC for the invitation and the opportunity to get acquainted with the Forum sites.
